The challenge
Engineering programmes needed a single platform where students could learn fundamental and advanced power electronics, simulate grid faults in real time, and research applications spanning motor drives, renewables, cybersecurity and electric mobility, capabilities no off-the-shelf lab provided.
What DSAT delivered
A complete power-electronics teaching and research laboratory built around the PE Start Basic System for hands-on learning, a Grid Simulator for scenario and fault-condition testing, and an OPAL-RT real-time digital simulator enabling research across power electronics, motor drives, renewable energy, cybersecurity, electric mobility and grid applications.
The result
Students and researchers now share one integrated platform covering teaching, research and advanced testing across the full range of real-world power and energy applications at KSU.
Outcome
An advanced power-electronics platform that lets KSU teach fundamentals, simulate grid conditions and research next-generation energy applications, all in one lab.
